Although there were special permissions given to allow the excavation of our inventory of molds, there is no affiliation between TC Steel and American Terracotta, nor is there any direct connection between the original American Terra Cotta Company and my company, American Terracotta.

The original American Terra Cotta and Ceramic Company was formed in the late 1800's by William Gates. The company produced architectural products for well over 50 years.

In 1988, an effort was begun to salvage a group of production molds from the factory site. This was accomplished through the efforts of TC Corp. and Seth Knight and resulted in the formation of what we now refer to as the archive of molds.

 The subsequent skills learning we have done using this collection of molds serves to inform the creation of new models, molds and architectural ornament.
